The Office of the Public Defender is pleased to announce the appointment of a Deputy Public Defender, Mr. Herbert McKenzie who was sworn to office this morning.
The OPD received several applications from members of the public and private bar to fill the vacancy.
Mr. McKenzie was selected as the best candidate for the office after careful scrutiny and a rigorous interview process conducted by members of the Private Bar, Human Resource experts internally and from the Public Sector.
Mr. McKenzie, a graduate of Glenmuir High School served as a Commissioned Officer in the Jamaica Defence Force before qualifying as an Attorney-at-law. He served as a Prosecutor here and in the British Virgin Islands. On his return to Jamaica he entered private practice.
The OPD warmly welcomes him to our team.
